Rhubarb and '_______'.

"*gasp*"
- Business Secretary Peter Mandelson (6/3/09)

"I'm melting! I'm melting!"

Now if it were up to me Mandelson would be home secretary instead of Mr Eyebrows, even in light of all the controversy he has caused over the many years on Blairs cabinet he is obviously a far better leader (and less boring). Today saw Lord Mandelson arriving for a 'Low-Carbon Summit' (by car) and on arrival aquired a copious amount of green custard in his face from a environmental protestor (link). Rightly so on Leila Deen's part too (member of the "Plane Stupid Group" opposing Lord M's support for the construction of a third runway at Heathrow Airport), but like Mandelson said i'd rather have gone up and spoken to him to see if he listened.. and then thrown the custard if otherwise. But i guess her intention has worked and now the issue is in the headlines and causing various MP's to have abrupt bouts of rage for her imminant arrest. Take it easy guys, it's not like it's a condom filled with purple powder is it..

Now oh dear Mr Jackson what's that we hear, you're.. you're leaving the limelight and finishing it all? Really?? "This is it"???

I'm not that much of a Michael Jackson fan but it's sad to see such a world reknowned performer dust himself down and take of his white glove (singular) for the last few times. And even more strange is that this proposition of a few concerts is only going to take place at the O2 arena when he could turnout a bomb on a final world tour. However i guess this is a testiment to the fans and to show that he's not fooling around and jetting from one place to another, which at todays rate of band and artist date cancelations i don't blame him if he wants to make these the last ever performances the best ever and to seal his status as possibly the greatest pop star ever.
Even though i am dubious of his current state of mind or which 'persona' he is now, invented or himself, i wish him the best of luck in giving it all for one last time. Maybe he'll take his mask off and will be black again underneath, a 20 year stunt imagine that! (No offence intended, i know he has a special skin condition).

And now for a few tracks which i'm going to call my "March Mornings" which for the most part i've listened to this last week in reflection that Spring is finally (or nearly..) upon us.

U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday
John Coltrane - Mr P.C
Miles Davis - Bye Bye Blackbird
Jamie Cullum - Get Your Way
Neil Young - Are You Ready for The Country?
Sonny Rollins - Moritat (Mack The Knife)
Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke
Aphex Twin - 4
Glenn Miller - American Patrol
Duke Ellington - C Jam Blues / Jam With Sam

Here's a vid with Duke and a certain trumpeter called Cat Anderson, dig his screech.
