With a comment like that you can tell I'm not in the best of moods. Feverish by definition in the dictionary produces meanings such as "Marked by intense agitation and emotion" and certainly i and practically everyone who paid £7 for a ticket to see The Saturdays perform live. And even though i don't like their music, they certainly haven't been hit by the ugly stick like yours truly. So for that amount of money for a performance and a supporting band seems like a no brainer when they're probably at the height of their popularity or just beginning.
I'll set the scene: The Saturdays supposed to play at 11, which at 11:10 and promises of they'll be on stage soon you can forgive. Another ten minutes on they finally get on stage at 11:20. They open with what seemed to be the poorest lip syncing in history which immediately received a few boos. But after they finished that song and introduced themselves they went into their latest single 'Issues'. From here on they seemed to be actually singing, maybe because it is their favourite song after all (repeating this fact around two dozen times). To be fair they didn't sound too bad tuning wise so i clapped at the end hoping that from here it might get better and turn out to be a really good night.
My hopes were raised even greater when Frankie and the rest of the band didn't know what song they'd be singing next, revealing they have a set list on stage to remind them of what they're singing (ha-ha-he-he..the dumb persona you're projecting is wearing pretty thin on my soul), and by set list and i know by set list that means 'great, there's quite a few more coming'. Oh how wrong i was.
After performances of 'Up' and 'I Just Can't Get Enough' the immortal words were spoken.. "Thanks very much guys, have a great night!".
Er hang on.. did they just say what i thought they said. The 'what' that they said whilst smiling, waving to the crowd and walking back stage? No.. can't be. What? You're kidding me..
I think that has to be a record for any gig I've been to, even charity gigs where there's obviously many acts playing. 12 minutes of performance for what was to be a night with The Saturdays, £7 for 4 songs. To be honest with you I'm not really that angry, what i am more is disappointed, i feel played by the event and if that wasn't specifically planned then i feel conned by both their management and The Saturdays themselves for such a poor quality event. Both my friend and i agreed we'd feel pretty guilty inside if we were in their shoes.
The only frankly good thing was the support act The Gentlemen, a new band from Sheffield (good lads) who haven't even got their album out yet but yet played a whole 45 minute set comprising of their just released single 'Sending Cards' and an array of other originals to what was frankly a very tough crowd after that major disappointment. It's pretty hard also to get people involved if they don't know any of the words to the songs and also haven't even heard of you.
So i have to say at least thank you to The Gentlemen for making it a reasonable night after the shat that was left by the cat on the mat, and I'm still left thinking should it have been the other way round with The Gentlemen supported by The Saturdays. It certainly felt like it regardless.

Anyway after that rant and not much else to report i thought i'd delve into youtube again for some well worth watching videos.
Felix's Machines - amazingly engineered music performance (sort of reminds me of Aphex Twin's Nannou).
Harry Hill & The Boy With The Big Face
Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock & Kenny Garrett - words cannot describe how sweet these three jamming together is, especially since i didn't know if Herbie had played with Kenny before. So this was a big surprise.
Hiromi Uehara gets on her Boots.

Zzzap! - recently rediscovered this show i remember watching every day when i got back from primary school, brings back a lot of memories.
