"..and served with a Latin dressing."

I don't know if the last post has spurred me into more experimental and worldly territories (or maybe i'm just trying to put off revision, but i lye i've done quite a bit already). So this is a sort of blogger break whilst watching an annoying critique on Come Dine With Me (yes i enjoy the show, mainly because i want to see someone snap and kill one of the competitors with cooked cuisine). Thought i'd mention two artists that caught my ear on the regular Peterson slot on Radio One this week (i still think it's quite biased they play that stuff at 2am when clearly there is some potential there for mainstream audience appeal due to the electronica, dance and hip-hop content usually on offer with the jazz, soul and funk).

Quantic is not just a DJ but also a highly regarded musician. To be honest even though i've never heard of him, i respect that he's been able to produce an impressive catalogue of albums and he's only in his early 20's. One song which was played on the show is by his newly formed band running opposite his Soul Orchestra, Quantic and his Combo Barbaro - New Morning, from upcoming July release 'Tradition in Transition'. From first hearing it sounded as if this song was recorded during the late 60's or earlier by a latin band, but i'm guessing some of the tape hiss is intentional on the track to relate back to the early examples of cuban and latin music. It's a pretty catchy tune as well, i've found myself humming it this afternoon no end of times. So when this comes out during the Summer there is no doubt i shall get hold of this in some form.
Now in contrast with a more straightforward and soulful jazz sound a track by new singer Melody Gardot called Who Will Comfort Me. Her new album 'My One and Only Thrill' should really be credited more. It's certainly a very R&R acoustic sound, and if i dare say so with this quality of material she could be the female and more seductive equivalent to Michael Buble (aka Mickey Bubbles).
Finally i've added another sub channel on Youtube, Dimsunk, this guys Steve Gadd lick tutorials and latin videos are top notch. Wish i could play drums as good as this.

P.S we're all going to die from Mexican Pig Flu, those swines.
